Photo Friday: Wine & Drugs

Shop sign in Ravello

This week started for me with an allergy induced head cold and a very sore throat. I also lost my voice for the first time in  my life. I had to laugh – even though it hurt – when I saw this sign for a new shop in Ravello. Must admit that at the time it didn’t sound too bad! Wishing everyone a happy, healthy and fun weekend ahead!

Ciao Mike! Believe me … it was. But without a voice all last week it would have been hard to actually order anything. 🙂 Buon fine settimana!

Thanks, Patty! I’m sure I’d seen it before as well, but maybe it took being sick to find the humor in it. 🙂 Feeling much better now … thanks! 🙂

Well, we made back to Ravello and had a great time.We visited the Wine and Drug store again and had some really good wine.We bought a case of wine to be shipped back here to the states and we could have sworn that the owner said shipping charges were included.Well,I guess that is a scam. I have read some advisories on line that these guys are a real rip off and something should be done about them because they give the other vendors in Ravello a bad name. They really take advantage of you by giving you lots to drink. I hope we don’t recieve a box of rocks. If we do ,I will send some of my Camorrah friends to tell them I said hi.
Other than that Ravello is a great little town.

Ciao Dan! Oh no … I’m so sorry to hear about your experience at this shop in Ravello. I hope your wine has arrived OK! Thank you for the heads up, since I hadn’t been in that shop before.

Well it appears Wine and Drugs is charging very high prices for shipping, it seems they have a reputation of charging very high shipping prices. Even when they tell the customer a different story.
If you take it with you like i did, you won’t have any trouble, But be wary as most of the wine there is available in the states, And at a much lower cost.

    Ciao…….

Dan, did you get your wine? I was there on my honeymoon and curious what it cost you to have shipped and if it arrived. I brought a bottle back with me but want to surprise my wife on our 1 year.
    Regards,
    Dean

Hi Dean, If you’re searching for a wine from Sammarco like you mentioned in your message, I’d suggest getting in touch directly with Casa Vinicola Ettore Sammarco. Hopefully, they’ll be able to help with the shipping for your surprise. Good luck! Warm wishes, Laura

Happy 150th birthday to my fellow Nebraskan Willa Happy 150th birthday to my fellow Nebraskan Willa Cather! Congratulations to the @willacatherfdn on the re-opening of the Willa Cather Childhood Home. I can’t wait to visit!

Today I’ve been thinking about her time on the Amalfi Coast in 1908. This lovely poem reminded me of the view from Sorrento of the slopes of Vesuvius across the Gulf of Naples.

“RECOGNITION”
by Willa Cather
The old volcanic mountains
That slope up from the sea —
They dream and dream a thousand years
And watch what-is-to-be.

What gladness shines upon them
When, white as white sea-foam,
To the old, old ports of Beauty
A new sail comes home!

But The Travelers by @brunocesarcatalano in Amalfi has been extended to November 5, 2023. I wasn’t ready for them to travel on yet!
This morning I said my goodbyes to Bruno Catalano’s “Travelers” on my morning walk. Tomorrow I’m off to be a traveler myself and they’ll likely be gone by the time I’m back. They’ve been good company, but it’s time for them to move on to their next destination. 🧳
