I wish I could hold on to the peacefulness of February evenings throughout the year. I swear that Amalfi just keeps getting more beautiful all month long. Last week while out taking an evening stroll and soaking up the sunset colors shining on the buildings of Amalfi, I heard the sound of an engine starting up and looked over to see this man on his colorful fishing boat heading out of port. I wondered where he was off to, but I hoped he had a successful catch!
Happy weekend wishes to you!
wow how beautiful is that!
Thanks, Annika! 🙂
Beautiful I can almost hear our friends father starting his fishing boat up down there, sadly not going to happen as he died some years ago now, but happy memories Laura xx
So glad I can bring back so many happy memories!
Ciao Saretta! I just love the February light in Amalfi! 🙂
What a beautiful capture! It made me smile to see this photo because just this morning my sister and I were talking on the phone about the beauty of the Amalfi Coast. Breathtaking!
And it made me smile to know that I brought you a little moment of happiness! 🙂

My husband and I are traveling to Italy this summer. We were trying to extend the time we were there and settled on heading your way … then I found your blog! Thanks for whetting my appetite. We can hardly wait.
Ciao Denise! Thank you so much for stopping by and for your nice comment. How exciting that you are planning a trip to Italy and the Amalfi Coast this summer! Have fun planning! 🙂
My mother was from Amalfi and so many lovely memories I have of my summers spent there and Maiori and I miss my family out there so much. My uncle and cousins used to go out fishing as they were based around the marina. They used to come back with octopus and squid which my aunts and mother used to cook. Thanks for bringing back the memories Laura.
Fond memories of my time growing up and spending my summer holidays in Amalfi with my cousins (my mother was from Amalfi before she moved to London, met my father and got married). I remember my uncle and cousins going fishing (their business was/is around the marina. They used to bring back optopus and squid and my aunts and mother used to cook it. Miss them so much but thanks for the reminder of happy days 🙂
Oh sorry I thought the first comment didnt come up so I added another.
Ciao Louise! I’ve just read your comment … not sure how I missed it before. Thank you for stopping by and for sharing about your family’s connection to the Amalfi Coast. What a beautiful place to be from! So happy I can bring back those family memories for you! 🙂
I’ve been reading some of your wonderful posts on winter in Amalfi Coast. Is it really a good move to spend a time here during winter? I’m thinking of heading there in 20-26 Feb but I’ve been getting quite a few negative feedbacks from travel forumers on this. From your experience, has there been any constant raining few days in a row? If it is, what kind of activities would you suggest? Looking forward for your feedbacks 🙂
Ciao Roze! Thanks for stopping by and for your nice comment. The weather can be a bit hit or miss during the winter here, but often by the end of February the season is beginning to change to early spring. The first time I visited the Amalfi Coast was at the end of February through the beginning of March, just a few days after the period that you are looking at. It was sunny and beautiful the entire week! Still a bit chilly, especially in the evening though. But there’s no guarantee with the weather any time of the year, so that’s always a risk. When the weather’s not so great during the winter there isn’t a lot to do on the Amalfi Coast. If you’re coming by car, or the expense of hiring car isn’t a problem, you can visit some amazing museums in Naples. Other than that … most of the best day trips, such as Pompeii and Paestum, are all outdoors. The other thing to keep in mind is that there aren’t quite as many public buses in the summer, and the ferries along the coast don’t usually start running until after Easter. But if you’re coming with your own transportation, it’s a nice time of year to visit since the traffic is not so bad. Hope that helps with your decision! 🙂
