Snowflakes and terracotta roof tiles
With just a few days left before Lasagna Eating Day … er, I mean … Carnevale, the temperatures have dropped and snow has arrived at high elevations on the Amalfi Coast. It snows so rarely here that it’s often a welcome surprise. This morning while we were having breakfast I noticed the snowflakes starting to fall outside. Is there anything better than being home, warm and enjoying a cup of tea and the newspaper while watching the snowflakes fall?

Flying into Naples, Italy on a clear day is a treat. The airport is located near the city center and the landing flight path often goes right over the Naples. Sometimes it’s too hazy to see clearly, especially during summer months, but over the years I’ve spotted the gardens at the Royal Palace of Caserta, the islands of Ischia and Procida and enjoyed some great bird’s-eye views over Naples. On the road from Naples to the Amalfi Coast
Earlier this week I arrived back home in Italy at Naples’ Capodichino airport, the closest airport to the Amalfi Coast. Jet lag does help to keep one calm though. I always breath a sigh of relief when we reach the exit at Angri, because I know that shortly the road will start winding its way . . . → Read More: On the Road Home

It’s a little humid today on the Amalfi Coast. The windows of the house are covered with condensation on the inside and rain on the outside. I noticed this little snail making its way across the outside of the living room window. Yep, it’s definitely a little humid today.
Happy (humid) Friday!

Me at the top of Mt. Vesuvius
On a sunny day at the beginning of November we headed over the Lattari Mountains to Naples. Destination: Mt. Vesuvius! After climbing Mt. Etna in Sicily, my mother was very excited to tackle another volcano. I hadn’t ever been to the top of Mt. Vesuvius, so I was really happy she wanted to go. Head over to CharmingItaly.com and read my post there about Climbing Campania’s Mt. Vesuvius. We had a great time, and I’d highly recommend it to anyone visiting the Naples area. The views from the top . . . → Read More: Climbing Mt. Vesuvius
