Looking for a nice hotel with beach access, love Positano but weary of only access around is by stairs. Also reading reviews something was said about sun doesn’t hit certain spouts on Positano Beaches. As for the hotel one room to accomadate Myselfs and three daughters.
    Thank you much.

What are some good locations that are not too expensive to buy property on the Amalfi coast?

    January 7, 2017

Tentatively planning a Sept visit with long time friend. Nothing romantic! Looking for relatively inexpensive B&B? with easy access to transportation/local sightseeing, and more southern Italy travel. Thank you for your help.

Ciao Laura!! I am dropping off at Salerno and planning to roam around Amalfi, Ravello & Atrani on 1st day – Positano, Praiano on 2nd Day. 3rd Day I will move to Capri (from positano or sorrento) and take a direct ferry to Naples from there in the evening. Now 2 questions I have in my mind. Where to stay for 2 nights in the region according to my itinerary? Is it convenient to carry luggage around in Sita bus and ferries?

Is Mr January’s place still just up the beach and around those rocks..?

La Marinella is what the chairs said when we were there 8 years ago for our honeymoon… He was such a generous and nice soul – and a good cook as well.

Some of our favorite memories are of his place and little stretch of beach.

Our family is visiting the Amalfi coast in June 2017 after spending two days in Rome. What would be the best way to travel from Rome, to Nerano?

Could you recommend a bicycling tour or company? Thanks!!

Hi Laura, my wife and I rented an apartment in POSITANO for a week in mid April. We’re fairly active and in our mid 60’s. So a few questions, please…. Is it reasonable to hike Vesuvius or just bite the bullet and take the bus? Where’s the best place to catch a boat to Capri? Can you send a link to any hiking trails we shouldn’t miss along the coastal mountains. Anything we should not miss?

    Many thanks…

  • Which gardens or nature areas in the Amalfi Coast do you recommend to visit? – Apart from the two major in Ravello and the private gardens on Capri island.

Hi, I am planning on travelling to Europe in April and deciding on which countries and villages to visit. I am more interested in the hiking than going and sitting on the beach. As it is off season is everything is still open and operating

I am visiting the Amalfi coast this July and staying Positano. How far in advance should I reserve a beach club? I am also trying to decide on another city to visit. I am trying to decide between Ravello and Sorrento. What would you suggest? Thank you in advance!

Any recommendations for a nice hotel or airbnb in Positano on a moderate budget? Or is there anywhere would you recommend staying?

    Great website by the way!!!

I will be visiting the amalfi coast in June for 5 days, one night we are booked to stay in Capri the others we will be staying in Amalfi town.

Is it easy getting around from Amalfi in the evenings? We would like to visit Positano and other places in the evening and also a few clubs like Africana and Music on the rocks so I am just wondering how easy it would be to get taxis etc.

I also plan to propose to my girlfriend whilst we are there, my question is what is a nice restaurant with sea view that we could view the sunset? I am keen to book a table ASAP to avoid dissapointment. Any other proposal recommendations welcome, thanks in advance for your help!!!

The Amalfi Coast is beautiful. Are there any advantages to visiting in the fall? Also, would it be better to stay in one of the villages or Salerno/Sorrento and “commute” in?

    January 11, 2017

Will prob use AIRBNB weekly or something better….

Hello Laura, love your blog and gorgeous pictures. We will be in Positano for a week in June this year. Our daughter is getting married there, having the reception at the Marincanto. We would love to travel around the amalfi by local bus and experience it all rather than go on touristy trips with a million other folks. We like kyaking, swimming, snorkeling, markets and we hope to do the the Walk of the Gods, and most of all enjoy the local food and coffee in the area. Would you know if any Suit Hire is available in the area? We like to travel light and don’t relish the thought of extra baggage. Hope to chat soon. Cheers Sandy and Andrew

I am thinking of coming in mid-May! What is the easiest way to come if we arrive in Rome early in the morning? We will be getting off a very long flight but I want to come straight there instead of resting up in Rome first (because we will end the trip a few days in Rome).

  • Ciao! I love your blog.
We are traveling to Amalfi coast and we are staying in Maiori and travelling to the other
villages via bus or boat. I can’t wait!
We are staying at the Residence Due Torri.
We hoped to purchase some local foods at the markets and cook often at the apartment.
Thank you for the information on the village markets.
I wanted to know where there are some local cafes or trattorias or osterias that are yummy but considered”cheap eats”. For my birthday I wanted to go to a beach club. )Dinner and drinks and fun on secluded beach.) Where do you suggest? I also wanted to go on a boat to Capri but they seem sooo expensive – do you any advice please. Thank you. Lori and Daniel Canada.

We are hiking the coast with a guide (Italian) and I wondered about bugs? Do I need to pack bug spray? Also, is it true that it is not necessary to tip?
